Chris Hemsworth, who played George Kirk in JJ Abrams’ new Star Trek reboot, has reportedly been cast as Thor.  He landed the role after reading for the part a second time.  The 6′ 3″  Aussie actor will also play the lead in the upcoming Red Dawn remake.  Marvel Pictures’ Thor will begin shooting next year for a release date in 2011.

Samuel L. Jackson has signed a deal with Marvel Studios which contains an option to play Nick Fury in an unprecedented nine future superhero films. Most likely including Captain America, Thor, Iron Man 2, The Avengers, and maybe even a S.H.I.E.L.D movie.
