We got really behind this month, so let’s jump right into this edition of Zzub, our look back at movie news over the past 30 days or so. Check out our list, there might be some movie news you missed.

  • Director Marc Webb and Sony Pictures have finally picked Andrew Garfield, who played Anton in “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” to be the new Spider-Man. Read the official statement and reactions from the producers and director.
  • Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is the new girl in Transformers 3.
  • Kevin Bacon will play Sebastian Shaw, the villain in X-Men: First Class. Confirmed cast includes James McAvoy (Charles Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Alice Eve (Emma Frost), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee) and Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique). Director Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass) will start shooting soon for a June 3, 2011 release.

  • Heat Vision Blog reports that Warner Bros is “nearing” a greenlight for a “Flash” movie, with films featuring Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Mad Magazine characters also in development. The same post at Heat Vision also lists release dates for Warner films through 2011.
  • The Crow reboot is “moving ahead very aggressively” and an offer has gone out to a major actor. Edward Presman who is producing the reboot, and who produced the first two says “The Crow itself is a creature in this movie — it’s not just a bird. It’s got a personality and a character. Not like Godzilla exactly, but it’s very different…[it plays] a more active role in the story.”
  • First images from Hugh Jackman’s Rock’em Sock’em movie Real Steel, have been revealed.
  • Entertainment Tonight’s exclusive visits to the set of Thor, starring Chris Hemsworth. In case you didn’t see it, check out how Chris Hemsworth looks in full Thor regalia. And here’s another link to some concept art showing a likeness of  Chris Hemsworth as Thor.

  • Ghost Rider 2 without Nicolas Cage? The rights revert back to Marvel if Columbia doesn’t put the sequel into production by this November, and Cage may be tied up with The Sorceror’s Apprentice and National Treasure 3.
