Reports have surfaced concerning the alien prequel movies that Ridley Scott will be directing. Two prequels are planned. the story takes place 30 years before the first Alien movie and will explore the origins of the creatures. It’s possible that Ridley Scott is just thinking out loud at this point, but he’s indicated that the race that created the Alien life form did so as biological warfare or as a way to “clean” a planet.
Apparently the giant creature you see sitting in the chair at the beginning of Alien is one of the race of beings that created the Aliens.
This plot raises some thought-provoking questions about the fate of our own world. Once you create the ultimate weapon, how do you stop it from killing you too?
Damon Lindelof’s script is currently being re-written by Jon Spaihts, so these details are just speculation at this point. The new films will be shot in 3D. Scott says of James Cameron: “Jim’s raised the bar and I’ve got to jump to it…He’s not going to get away with it.” Sounds like he has the right attitude at least.
