Ryan Reynolds was cast as Green Lantern recently. In an Entertainment Weekly article Reynolds says “There’s no rule that says you can’t play two different characters in two different comic book universes.” He also comments “There’s so many interesting comic book characters out there, I would love to do others.”
Ryan tells EmpireOnline that Deadpool will definately break The Fourth Wall, and speak directly to the audience. When asked about the last scenes of X-Men:Wolverine, he says “That we won’t speak of.”
Chris Hemsworth, who played George Kirk in JJ Abrams’ new Star Trek reboot, has reportedly been cast as Thor. He landed the role after reading for the part a second time. The 6′ 3″ Aussie actor will also play the lead in the upcoming Red Dawn remake. Marvel Pictures’ Thor will begin shooting next year for a release date in 2011.

Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood Daily reports that Mickey Rourke will indeed be in Iron Man 2. The rumor has now been confirmed. Rourke will play Whiplash, a Russian villain in the comics. The character will reportedly also include elements of another Russian villain, the Crimson Dynamo.
In related news, eOnline reports that Scarlett Johansson has also signed on for Iron Man 2. She will play the character of Black Widow in the movie.
And rounding out the Iron Man 2 news, Jon Favreau has just released this photo. The Photo shows director Favreau and cinematographer Matthew Libatique on the set for Tony Stark’s house.
